The "Starting At" price is for a custom trike with a basic configuration with a Shimano STEPS Motor and Battery. We can also order an HP Velotechnik without a motor and battery for you. Please contact us for assistance in configurating a custom made trike or bike.
Motor options: we can configure your trike with mid-drive motors from Shimano with varying levels of torque: the STEPS E5000 (40 Nm) E6100 (65Nm), STEPS EP8 (85Nm) or STEPS EP801 Cargo (85Nm). We can also configure it with a hub motor from Neo-Drives.
Drivetrain options: mechanical or eletronic conventional drive trains are available, including the Shimano CUES Di2 with automatic shifting. In addition to a conventional drivetrain with cassette and derailluer, we can also configure your HP Velotechnik trike with an internal geared hub such as a Shimano Nexus 8 Speed, Rohloff 14 Speed, or even an Enviolo Automatiq! The Enviolo Automatic hub offers stepless, fully automatic shifting. No gears - just pedal and go. You choose your preferred pedalling speed (cadence) and the Enviolo will constantly adjust the internal gear ratio to maintain your cadence - no matter your speed riding conditions. When head uphill it automatically and smoothly adjusts to lower gear ratio, and it will do the opposite when you head down hill . It offers a 380% gear ratio.

Raised Seat, Easy Access and Plenty of Space for Four Bags: Scorpion fx
With the comfortable touring tricycle Scorpion fx, HP Velotechnik offers an impressively stable folding recumbent trike that has been specially developed for the needs of traveling cyclists.
The seat of the Scorpion fx is positioned far higher and more upright than that of its sporty contemporaries, the Scorpion and Scorpion fs. This gives easy access to the Scorpion fx and offers a decent seating position, a clear view on the road ahead and a panoramic view of the scenery around you. In brief: Enjoy a lot of trike fun the easy way!
The Scorpion fx not only has room for a sturdy luggage rack with an integrated platform above the rear wheel. The higher seat position also creates space for a lowrider rack behind the seat. Its sturdy tubing provides secure support for two more panniers.
In total, you can transport up to 50 kg (110 lbs) of luggage in four large panniers on your folding recumbent trike. Good for the handling stability: Your luggage travels particularly favourably because it is positioned low and close to your body, ensuring a perfect centre of gravity. If you choose the ErgoMesh seat and the matching Side Bag Mounts, you have easy access to another 10 kg of luggage in two handlebar bags next to the seat.
A large variety of drivetrain options to choose from allow you to relax and enjoy the laid-back comfort of the foldable touring tricycle with such a heavy payload even on the steepest hills. On request, we can also equip your Scorpion fx with a powerful electric motor and double battery option for maximum travel range!

Sometimes space is of the essence – as is time. This is what makes it so satisfying when highly intelligent solutions can save you both. A Swiss pocketknife for example. Or our foldable Scorpion fx travel trike.
Amazing space savings. Thanks to HP Velotechnik’s patented, self-locking folding hinge, it is easier than ever to fold up your Scorpion fx. In just 60 seconds, the comfortable seat can be removed without using any tools, and the trike’s rear wheel can be folded forward.
Space-saving masterpiece. With a few movements, this luxurious touring trike can be turned into a compact package that can be easily transported by car.
A ratchet strap hidden behind the seat ties together the two halves of the frame to make the bike easy to carry when folded. Another 90 seconds and the front wheels have been removed using one single Allen wrench. The agile speedster will now even fit in the trunk of some of the tiniest cars. Or in your apartment: Don’t let anyone ever tell you again that you don’t have room for any more beautiful trikes!

Scorpion fx. The Comfortable, Foldable Travel Trike.
The streamlined, relaxed seating position on the Scorpion fx, just like on a recumbent bike, ensures a fast pace. The seat angle is adjustable from 46-54°. The seat height of 35 cm (14″) was chosen by HP Velotechnik for the Scorpion fx touring trike to be significantly higher than the sportier Scorpion to provide a very good overview in road traffic. The rearward curved frame cross member allows the driver to get close to the seat and get on and off without effort. And even when stopping at traffic lights, the driver no longer has to take his feet off the pedals positioned at the height of 38-46 cm (15-18″) but can accelerate powerfully from the comfortable recumbent seat.
Foldable touring recumbent trike scorpion fx
The frame suspension with 8.5 cm (3.5″) travel works unaffected by pedaling forces thanks to HP Velotechnik’s proven No Squat design. The stiff aluminum frame allows a very low weight for tricycles from 16.5 kg (36.5 lbs). The frame and seat are adjustable in length to suit riders from 1.57 m to 2.00 m (5’2″– 6’7″) tall.
Wider is better: The wider the track, the greater the tipping stability and the faster your recumbent trike can corner. A wide track also allows a bigger steering angle for a small turning circle. So that your Scorpion fx still fits easily through doors and gates, HP Velotechnik has developed narrow hubs for a low overallwidth of just 83 cm (33″). (You want it even wider? The maximum track width and the highest seating position of our Tadpole trikes can be found with the models Scorpion plus 20 and Scorpion plus 26.)

Ergonomic Handlebars
Comfortably positioned ergo-bars beneath the seat. Your wrists and neck are relieved from strain. HP Velotechnik's steering geometry combines smooth straight-line stability with impressive maneuverability. Maintenance-free, sealed cartridge bearings on the handlebars and self-lubricating rod end bearings on the tie rods. The wheel mounts are positioned in the frame with sturdy, adjustable A-head headsets. The handlebars are adjustable in width and angle.
Robust Folding Hinge
On unfolding the trike, the robust HP Velotechnik folding hinge locks into place automatically. The safety catch can be conveniently operated from above. Stainless steel axle with zero play for precise folding over and over again.
Disc Brakes
With its low centre of gravity and long wheels base, the Scorpion FX can perform very safe braking maneuvers. The standard disc brakes ensure maximum braking power even in bad weather. The front wheels are controlled separately so that you can selectively brake the inner wheel when cornering. Due to HP Velotechnik's sophisticated steering geometry, the steering is not affected by braking or sudden bumps on your trail. On request, we build your trike with mechanically or hydraulically coupled front brakes with one-hand operation and a rear disc brake.
Suspension
HP Velotechnik’s adjustable suspension provides superior ride comfort on your fast electric bike. The suspension utilizes HP Velotechnik’s tried-and-tested No Squat suspension concept. It reliably prevents drive forces from affecting the suspension and unpleasant pedal kickback. This enables you to accelerate at all times powerfully. If desired, your Scorpion FX can be equipped with the lightweight air suspension element from Rock Shox. The spring stiffness can be easily adjusted to the payload using a shock pump. Equipped with adjustable hydraulic rebound damping and a block-able compression stage, it boasts the best response recorded in our tests.

BodyLink Seat
The HP Velotechnik seat systems provide an exemplary ergonomic connection at the key interface between the rider and the trike. With the adjustable BodyLink hard shell seat, the lower seat shell offers excellent side support, while the upper seatback gives enough freedom for you to lean dynamically into the curve when cornering. Waterproof seat pad cushion made of EVA foam or breathable Aiflow seat cushion.
ErgoMesh Seat
Alternatively, you can mount the airy ErgoMesh mesh seat. It has anatomically-shaped side cushioning for extra support when cornering and a practical zipper pocket in the backrest. Safety plus: Reflective strips on the seat sides. Both seat systems fit the same frame mounts and are thus interchangeable. They can also be removed entirely in 15 seconds a practical feature when it is raining, or you want to put your recumbent bicycle into your car. With the ErgoMesh seat you get a 3cm (1.2") higher seat than with the BodyLink seat; with the extra high ErgoMesh HS plus seat, , you sit 14 cm (4.2") higher. A higher seating position facilitates boarding and disembarking and improves the overview in traffic, but reduces the tilt stability when cornering at higher speed.
Rear Rack
Your luggage will be carried with full suspension. This enables agile driving dynamics and helps to protect your equipment. The stable rack for loads of up to 25 kg (55 lbs) has been optimized to withstand the high lateral forces while riding your trike. It comes with a secondary, lowered level to hang your panniers with a low center of gravity. Low sidebars provide secure support for bags. Well integrated: A protection for your taillight and a flag mount.
